We, the students of Mrs. McGroder's 4th grade class, are here to learn, to have fun, make new friends, and pass the EOGs.  We will do this by coming to school prepared, listening and following directions, working hard, challenging ourselves, and believing in ourselves and others.  We will also help each other and be safe, responsible, and respectful.

Welcome to my class!  I am excited to have you in my class this year!  This is my third year teaching 4th grade at Woodland Heights Elementary. 

 

I grew up in upstate NY and lived in Hawaii for a year before getting married.  My husband and I moved to Orlando, Florida from Syracuse, NY in 1993.  Our sons, Seth and Jeremy, were both born in Florida and in 2005 we decided as a family, to move to Mooresville, NC.  We love this area and agree that it's the best place we have ever lived!

 

Seth is a sophomore at NC State University and Jeremy is in 8th grade at Mount Mourne IB School.  Jeremy also attended WHE from second through fifth grades.

 

Prior to teaching I worked in healthcare for 9 years and was self employed with my husband for 8 years.  In 2008, I decided to pursue a career in education.  Teaching is the best job I've ever had!  I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me.  And I love seeing their excitement and passion for learning in my classroom.
