Homework Policy
As a rule, my class does not have homework. Students are given ample time to complete assignments during class. However there are always a few students who have difficulty managing their time well. These students are expected to complete the daily assignments for homework. Students who turn in their work the following day will not have points deducted. Five points will be deducted from the grade everyday it is considered late. Five points will also be deducted for papers turned in without a name.
Grading Policy
Students are expected to be prepared for class and participate in all classroom activities. Participation grades are given for a number of activities. Rubrics for any projects will be sent home with the students so that everyone will know what is expected in order to get an A.
The PDSA process
This weekly process is used to help students reflect on their learning progress. Each week students decide on a learning target skill in math and reading. Students then create a plan that will allow them to succeed. After putting the plan into action, students study the results and assess which part of their plan was helpful or not helpful. (PDSA - plan, do, study, act)
