We will be continuing our involvement with Accelerated Reader.  Your child will bring home a library book each evening.  Please read to/with your child every day.  You will need to read each book more than one time in order for your child to remember facts about the book.  Ask questions of your child about the story (ie. Who was the story about?  Where did the story take place?  What happened first in the story? Next? Last?)  Encourage them to look at the pictures to help them remember what happened.  When they return to school the following day, they will take a computer test about the book and what they have read.  We hope they will be excited about this program as it has been very helpful in helping children to read on their own.
