This year's second grade class at Troutman Elementary School has followed tradition with excellence, and so have their teachers. The teachers have been busy preparing the units of study, paying close attention to North Carolina curriculum.
Language Arts - antonyms, homonyms, synonyms, contractions, possessives, sentence structure, spelling, pronouns, verbs, and nouns.
Mathematics - patterns and sorting, money, time and calendars, counting skills, addition and subtraction facts, double digit addition and subtraction using regrouping skills, and multiplication facts for 1, 2,5, and 10.
Science and Social Studies - environment, citizenship, habitat, transportation, Native Americans, dinosaurs, and animals. 
All of the teachers use an integrated curriculum in order to accommodate and open their students' eyes to what is around them and what was here before them. Hopefully, we can let our students look to the future.
