To Parents of 5th graders:
Although rare, meningococcal meningitis is serious & can potentially cause death within 24 hours. About 10% of the people who get it will die. Up to 1 in 5 survivors are left with serious complications such as amputations, brain damage, deafness, or kidney disease. A simple vaccination is recommended for the greatest risk category, children 11-18 years of age. It’s also available for people 2-55 years old. Please watch the video on our school web site.
