Oscar Price was from Cullowhee, NC in the mountains of Jackson County.  He was a veteran of World War II and started working for the school system in the 1950s.  His first position with the system was as an electrician, but through the years moved his way up to eventually take over the role as the Director of Maintenance.
 
Oscar Price was married to Ms. Angel.  He enjoyed golf and was a participant in the system's tournament up until his untimely death in 1978 due to a heart attack.  In honor of him, the committee elected to name the Spring golf tournament after him.
