My mission as a teacher is to guide my students to a better understanding of themselves and their role in society, develop in them a moral foundation from which positive decisions can be made, teach the content in a way that they find interesting and necessary, and ignite in them a passion to learn beyond what is expected.
About Me
My name is Brian Fernandez. I was born and raised in Syracuse N.Y. and moved to Statesville in 1998. This will be my 15th year teaching in the Iredell-Statesville School System. I started off teaching at Celeste Henkel Elementary. I taught 5 years in 4th grade and 3 years in 5th grade while at Celeste Henkel. In 2006 I transferred to Statesville Middle were I taught 6th grade Math for 2 years. I have taught 5th grade at Scotts for 3 years. This is my second year in second grade.
My favorite Pastime is watching my family have fun together. I am happily married to my wife Andi. We have been married for 11 exciting years. I am also a proud father of three. The group consists of my two girls Riley Blue and Tyler Rain and my son Koah Jordan. These three keep me busy and I love every minute of it!
During my free time I enjoy engaging in a variety of activities. Some of which are sharing with and teaching others about my faith, spending time goofing around with my family, camping, beach trips, reading books, and working out. (Sometimes I lift weights. Other times I lift bacon cheese burgers. The weights produce a more positive outcome, but the burgers taste better!)
