The fifth grade teachers are dedicated to preparing students to be successful sixth graders.   The classroom instruction is based on the Common Core State Standards.  Writing is encouraged across the curriculum.  The reading curriculum is literature-based, supplemented by novel studies and Accelerated Reader.  The Social Studies Curriculum consists of the study of the geography of United States, US History until reconstruction.  The science curriculum covers the ecosystem, matter and properites, sources of energy, weather and climate, genetics and structures and functions of living organisms.
