Science Fair

Our Science Fair will be held on December 6, 2012

The Science Fair is an optional enrichment opportunity for students, unless otherwise indicated from your classroom teacher.  Although not mandatory, participating in the Science Fair can provide your child with an engaging, fun and rewarding experience.  We hope all children consider participating!

Science: Each project must include every step of the Scientific Method: Question, Research Report (3-6 grade only), Hypothesis, Procedure (which includes materials as well as explicit steps to be taken), Analysis (graph, chart, or table), Conclusion, and display board.  You can find the tri-fold presentation board at Michaels or Staples. Neatness, spelling, punctuation, and grammar count.

As parents, it is only natural that you would want to help your child with his or her project.  We encourage you to help by brainstorming ideas, giving your time and support.  The more a student completes independently, the more he or she will remember and learn from the experience.

We hope the project will be a valuable learning experience for your child. Once your child has chosen an experiment, we recommend that he or she complete a timeline from beginning to completion.  Participation requirements are defined by grade level or individual teachers.  All projects must be turned in by 8:00 AM to the school cafeteria on Thursday, December 6th.

Judging will take place by noon the same day.  Awards presentation will take place later that evening and some winners will have the opportunity to advance to the District Science Fair January 23, 2013.

We appreciate your support on this important project. If your child has any questions regarding the project, he or she should ask their teacher or check the school website for Science Fair packet information.

Thank you,
