“Our mission is to acquire knowledge and appreciation of one’s own culture so that we can better understand other cultures and traditions. We will also incorporate the IB Learner Profile Traits and Areas of Interaction while learning the Spanish language.  Through listening, reading, writing and speaking, we will be successful in the classroom and beyond.”

 About Me

Hola… ¿Quién es la Sra. Roldán?

My name is María Roldán and I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia, South America and I moved to the United States as a teenager. I earned my undergraduate degree at Springfield College in Sringfield, Massachusetts (MA) and completed my Master's degree in education with a Concentration in Spanish at Framingham State College in Framingham, MA.

I have taught Spanish at elementary, middle, high school, and college levels. I began my experience in the Spanish Immersion Program in the Mendon-Upton school district while also being the program coordinator. In addition to that, I also directed a Spanish Summer Immersion camp in Massachusetts as well as here at Northview School. I consider myself energetic, enthusiastic, open-minded, and creative. I take teaching very seriously because it gives me the opportunity to guide, empower, and prepare my students for the challenges ahead of them.

My traveling experiences have been very pleasant because I was exposed to the culture, richness, art, values, and customs in a variety of situations.  Your child will have an opportunity to explore and experience authentic and vivid experiences in my classroom.  This summer, our school went to Costa Rica and next summer (2013) we will go to France and Spain where we will continue to explore cultures. Furthermore, what is most important to me is your child's success in my Spanish class.  I am confident that your child's foreign language experience will be meaningful, pleasant, and well rewarded.  I look forward to maintaining an open and respectful relationship with you and your child.
