Writing
 
The Iredell Statesville District has adopted the Write from the Beginning Program.  The students will write everyday in the classroom.  They will watch the teacher model good writing practices and be allowed to copy teacher writing in the beginning.  Then eventually the students will move to writing own their own.  Some days students will be given a topic to write about or they may have "Free Writing"  were they choose their own topic. 
 
During writing time, the teacher and the assistant work with a group  or groups of students on their writing skills  or with an individual student.  Writing time usually last anywhere from 30  to 45 minutes a session.  Sometimes writing is broken up into 2 session a day.   Students will also have homework in Writing.  They may have to write about  a topic at home or work on a certain writing skill.
