Classroom Mission Statement We are Ms. Patterson's 1st Grade students. We will listen to our teachers and work hard at school and at home so we can go to 2nd grade. (Created by the 2012-2013 students) About Me Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine since the 6th grade. In order to make this dream a reality, I worked hard in school. Upon graduating from North Iredell High School, I enrolled in Mitchell Community College and graduated with honors from the Associate of Arts program. I transferred from Mitchell to Western Carolina University where I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education. I earned my Master's degree in Elementary Education and graduated with honors from Appalachian State University. Aside from my educational background, I have a very blessed personal life. The pride and joys of my life are my daughter, Mia, and my sister, Pam. They provide much "sunshine" to my days and I am thankful each day that God blessed me with them. My parents are very dear to me as well. Another special "family" member is my yellow lab, Moses. Most of all, I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the blessings He showers upon my life daily. My collections include blue birds, Duke Blue Devils items, and bird houses. I also enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, and camping. My teaching career has been a great one to this point. I taught Special Education in Alexander County for two years. Following those years, I worked briefly with children with Severe/Profound disabilities. My "awesome adventure" with the Iredell-Statesville School System began at A. D. Rutherford School where I taught 3rd-5th grades. I also taught 3rd grade at Lake Norman Elementary School. I am happy to be a member of the Celeste Henkel family, and look forward to serving the children of this community many more years. My goal for every student in my class is to succeed both academically and as a productive citizen in our community. I look forward to an exciting year teaching your child in 1st grade. In order for this year to be successful for the children, we all must work together as a team. Without a doubt, TOGETHER we will make this an AWESOME ADVENTURE for each student in this class.
