Welcome to 1st grade!

Our Classroom Mission:

  • Miss Simko's 1st grade students will learn math, language arts, science, and social studies in order to prepare for 2nd grade.  We will do this by following directions, sharing ideas, listening, and doing our work.
About Me:

This is my sixth year teaching at Celeste Henkel Elementary School. I moved to the Charlotte, NC area from the Cleveland, OH area in 2007. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Cleveland State University and I recently graduated with my Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb University.  I love being a part of the Celeste family. My favorite subjects include Science and English Language Arts. Some of my favorite children's authors include Eric Carle, Peter H. Reynolds, Tomie dePaola, Robert Sabuda, and Chris Van Allsburg. I am also a huge baseball fan. Go Tribe!!
