Greetings! I am so fortunate to be able to share one of my favorite things in the world with my students, and that is MUSIC! I've been singing since I could talk. I studied at Appalachian State University where I received a Bachelor's Degree and Masters's Degree in Music Education. My principle instrument is trumpet. I also have Levels 1,2 and 3 certification in Orff Methodology.
I enjoy teaching students the general components of music such as tempo, dynamics, rhythm, style, melody, harmony, form and timbre. We use many classroom instruments on a daily basis as well as recorders in fourth and fifth grades. Movement, usually in the form of patterned dances and games, are also important parts of the music curriculum. We learn about music and composers from many different cultures. I hope you will come join us for a class and get a glimpse of the fun we have learning music together!
