Iredell-Statesville Schools
The VI Mission
The VI team will work with students, parents, and staff to increase learning, provide modifications and appropriate low vision aids, and encourage independence for students who are visually impaired.
About Me
I live in Statesville with my husband. We've been married 37 years. We have two married children and seven wonderful and gorgeous granddaughters.
My educational background:
Bachelor of Arts degree--Lenoir Rhyne University, Hickory, NC
Master of Arts degree--University of North Carolina, Charlotte, NC
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification
I began my teaching career as a 5th grade teacher. After a few years, I made the change to Exceptional Children, and then finally to the area of visually impaired. I have served Iredell-Statesville Schools as a Teacher of Visually Impaired Students for the past 19 years. I have great students and enjoy working with all of them.
My base school is Celeste Henkel Elementary School, but I travel to many different schools in the district depending on the locations of my students.
