Hello and welcome to another exciting year at Celeste Henkel Elementary School.

 

 

The students in Mrs. Harris' class will be gold medalists. We will do our best work so we can become better readers and problem solvers. We will listen to the teacher and practice what she teaches so we can pass 2nd grade.

 

 

I graduated from UNC-Asheville in 2000. This is my 13th year teaching at Celeste Henkel. I taught kindergarden for 8 years and first grade for 2 years. This will be my third year teaching 2nd grade.  

 

I live in Statesville with my husband and son.

 

My goal is to help my students enjoy reading and to help them become better readers. I also want to teach them strategies that they can use to comprehend what they have read. I want my students to have a solid foundation in second grade so that they can be better prepared for third grade. Hopefully this year they will also discover that learning can be fun!!
