My Classroom Mission

It is the mission of the Lakeshore Art Department to help all our students learn to express themselves visually.  To do this,we explore the work of a new artist each week. We are developing our skills as art critics by  learning the four steps of art criticism. We follow the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for the Visual Arts so that should they decide to study art our students will be prepared to compete. Our projects, when at all possible, tie in with the regular classroom curriculum and therefore reinforce classroom learning. We believe that art is not just an enhancement, but an essential!
 
About Me

My name is Kathy Sedberry. I graduated cum laude from UNCC with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Illustration as well as the education classes required to teach in 1995. I began teaching in Iredell county in 1996. I have been at Lakeshore Middle since it opened in 2000.  I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Visual Art, and have my Master's in Educational Leadership.
