EC Department Mission

We will empower students with disabilities to reach their academic, vocational, and social potential. We will do this by providing a full continuum of special education services, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Plans, and advocating for students.

About Me

I graduated from Bluefield College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. I then attended Radford University and graduated in 1995 with a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice. I worked for several years as a social worker for emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth. My career as a teacher began in 1999, when I accepted a lateral entry position for a special educator at Mulberry Alternative School. I taught at Mulberry for 4 years, and then accepted a position for a special education resource and inclusion teacher at West Iredell High School. During the summer of 2012, I passed the Praxis exam and became certified to teach Secondary English.

I am married with two children, one in middle school and one in elementary school. My husband works in the field of law enforcement and we enjoy traveling, sports, and spending time together as a family.

About My Classes

During the fall 2012 semester, I will co-teach three inclusion classes: Grammar and Composition with Mrs. Hall, English II with Mrs. Scott, and English III with Mrs. Scott.
