Welcome to the 2012 - 2013 school year. I am very excited about this school year. In the fall semester, I will be at the Career Academy and Technical School all day teaching Nursing Fundamentals. In the spring semester, I will be at West Iredell High School all day teaching Health Science 1 and Health Science 2 Honors.
Mission Statement:
The overall mission in the Health Science Education classroom is to educate the student regarding the many facets of the health care industry. The mission of Nursing Fundamentals is to encourage students to develop the characteristics and become competent at skills necessary to function as a certified nursing assistant in the state of NC. Emphasis is placed on professional appearance as well as professional actions.
About Me
I have been a Warrior as long as West Iredell High School has been in existence--I actually graduated from West Iredell in the first graduating class (Class of 1975). I graduated from Davis School of Nursing in May, 1978 as a RN, and enjoyed working on the Pediatric unit of Davis Hospital. While our children were young, I was a "stay-at-home" mom and like to say that I helped to manage our own "pediatric unit". In January, 1997, I began to teach at West High in "health occupations"....now known as Health Science Education. I love what I do, and find great reward in seeing young people become better at and more comfortable with skills that they will use the rest of their lives.
As of August, I have been married to Benny Johnson for 37 years. We have 3 adult children, Angela, David and Chris, and 2 wonderful grandsons, Kyle and Micah. I also must add that their is a very special 4 legged "person" at our house--my black cat Lucky who is now 10 years old!
