My Classroom Mission

In class, we are going to work together to become proficient in all of our English standards as set by the state of North Carolina.  We want to meaure at least 85% or better on all assessments.  If we can do this, we can fortify the idea of 21st Century Success.

About Me

This is my fourth year as an English instructor here in the great Viking Nation!  I attended Appalachian State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications in 1988.  My M.S. is from Radford University in English and Education/Curriculum and Instruction (1992).

This is my 18th year in education as I have taught in North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky where I have taught basically all levels of English in addition to several different Communications Arts courses and was a basketball coach for seven years before "retiring" from coaching.

Outside of my work here, I have been a free-lance reporter on area college and pro sports for ESPN Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and Sporting News Radio for the last 13 years.  I also write for Lindy's Sports Annuals and I am a frequent contributor to the company's website, www.lindyssports.com. My newest venture in the free lance sportswriting world is www.collegechalktalk.com.  It is a new web site dedicated to totally college basketball and it has had great reviews thus far.

My interests include the four major sports - football, baseball, hockey, and basketball as well as alternative rock music and computers.

My class schedule for the first semester of the 2011-12 school year is as follows:
1st Block - ENG 12 AP
2nd Block - ENG 12 Honors
