According to James Henderson and Rosemary Gornik (2007), Education facilitates a journey, for each student, through disciplinary subject matter using the democratic self and social understanding. At Lake Norman High, students are provided with active meaning making experiences that cultivate a personal repsonsibility for lifelong learning, a generosity for diverse others, and a committment to fair play and social justice.
