William Bulter Yeats once said, "Education is no the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." As your teacher I hope that you will learn more than facts in my classroom. Education is meant to be meaningful and create a spark in your life that will lead to a full blown desire for a lifetime of learning.
Classroom Mission Our classroom will reach our strategic goal, by working together cooperatively, supporting each other when we need help, being respectful of others and their opinions, having a positive attitude, listening carefully, and by following the rules we created as a class.
About Me My name is Lisa Souther. My husband, Brian, was born and raised in Union Grove. We have four children, three girls, one boy, and a toy poodle. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, learning new things, taking photos, and just because they are challenging, I participate in triathlons.
Prior to coming to Union Grove Elementary, I spent 12 years in a private school as a music teacher and math tutor. Upon entering the public school system, I began as a subsitute teacher and soon filled many interim positions. They included high school math, computer lab teacher, school guidance counselor and an EC resource teacher.
I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go back to school and earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. In 2010, I earned my National Board Certification.
In 2006, I joined the Union Grove Staff. For the past six years, I have had the pleasure of working with many outstanding students. Additionally, it has been my honor to serve as the robotics coach. Union Grove students are awesome and I am continually impressed with them. I look forward to seeing what this year will bring! |
