Attention all parents of current 2nd and 3rd grade students! There will be a very important meeting concerning the new Read to Achieve Legislation on Thursday, December 12 at 5:00 PM in the school's cafeteria. Principal, Kelley James, will be providing information about this new law that requires all students to be reading at or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade. Children can report to the music room while parents attend the meeting.

There will be a Mini Dance-a-Thon, with D.J. Craig Shore, to benefit the UNC Children's Hospital Thursday, December 19th after school until 4:30 PM. There will be a $2.00 admission charge, but additional donations will be accepted and appreciated. Participants will need to have a signed permission form completed and turned in before the event.
Come out Thursday, December 12 at 6:00 PM for a holiday concert. Music will be provided by our music teacher, Mrs. Mitchell, and our Union Grove students. The event is sponsored by the Union Grove PTO.
Our school will be having a sucker sale Tuesday, November 19. Suckers will be sold for 50 cents each. All proceeds will benefit the North Carolina Children's Hospital. Watch for details about our upcoming Mini Dance Marathon to benefit the same cause.
The PTO will be hosting a Fall Festival at our school on Oct. 18. Supper will be served in the cafeteria from 5:30-6:30 PM. There will be pumpkin painting, a silent auction, a cake walk, pie in the face, a pumpkin carving contest, a hayride, bingo, inflatables, old-fashioned games and more! We hope to see you and your family!
The Science Fair is an optional enrichment opportunity for students. Although not mandatory, participating in the Science Fair can provide your child with an engaging, fun and rewarding experience. We hope all children consider participating. Science fair projects will be completed at home and will need to be at school on Nov. 4 for judging that afternoon.
Grandparents are invited to come eat lunch with your grandchildren the week of Sept. 16-20. Our Book Fair will be going on that week in the Media Center, and grandparents may take their grandchildren to purchase books. They may also take you to see their classroom.
