I have been teaching for 31 years.  My undergraduate studies took me to Appalachian State University. In the lovely town of Boone, N.C., learning how to become the best teacher possible was my goal.  I received my Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Elementary Education. Everyday I learn something new and pray that my teaching will make this world a better place.  When I began teaching, there was an overabundance of teachers. My teaching career began at Troutman Elementary School, but I had the opportunity to teach at various schools in Iredell/Statesville Schools.

As the year of 2001 began, my life took a wonderful turn. I met and married a wonderful man, Joel Free who teaches at Troutman Middle School. However, he had a son that needed to finish high school, so at the end of the school year I moved to Georgia to begin a new chapter in my life. My husband and I taught at the same school for 3 years. This was one of the greatest experiences of my teaching career and also my personal life. In 2004, I began teaching at Troutman Elementary again, when we moved back home to Statesville. 

My free time is spent reading mysteries, watching movies and being a full-time servant to the four-footed members of our family, Ginger and Gilligan (our cats) and Rhett, Scarlett, Clementine, and Charlie (our dogs).  I look forward to working with you and your children during this school year.
