About Me
Ms. Waller
My name is Jewel Waller.  I am a native of Davie County.  I graduated from Davie High School and went on to attend Mitchell Community College.  After receiving my Associate's Degree in Pre-Liberal Arts, I transfered to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in May of 1996.  Then I substituted in the Charlotte- Mecklenburg School system for about a year.  I taught fourth grade for two years in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.  Next, I taught fourth grade in a charter school in Rowan County.  After that, I started teaching in Iredell-Statesville Schools.  This is my 15th year of teaching.  I graduated December 2011 with my Master's in Elementary Education Degree at Gardner-Webb University.

I enjoy reading a good book, dancing, and relaxing with friends and family.  A hobby of mine is collecting Garfield things.  I have Garfield comic books, posters (some are in my classroom), stuffed animals, keychain, etc.  Some of my classroom bulletin boards incorporate Garfield into the classroom learning.

I believe that every child can learn.  Some children learn in different ways or take longer to learn a concept, but every child can learn.  It takes a combination of effort from the student, the teacher, and the parents to help a child to be successful in their school career.
